New Healing Energy & Summer Wisdom at AcuHerb Community Circle

At AcuHerb Community Circle, we're entering the season of growth, warmth, and expanded care—and we couldn’t be more excited to share what’s new in our clinic and how you can align your wellness routine with the rhythms of summer.

🌟 Meet Amy Saber: Our New Acupuncturist for Evening Appointments

We’re thrilled to welcome Amy Saber, a licensed acupuncturist from Pennsylvania, to our team! Amy brings a vibrant, warm yang fire energy that complements my own yin earth—together, we’re offering you even more balance and access to care.

Starting June 10, Amy will begin shadowing in the clinic and slowly transition into offering evening hours, which many of you have been requesting for years. Whether you're a teacher, a government worker, or just have a packed daytime schedule, you'll now have after-work options to continue your treatments without interruption.

☀️ Seasonal Shift: Time to Cool, Move, and Detox

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), summer represents yang—outward movement, heat, activity, and expansion. As the temperature rises, it’s the perfect time to shift your treatments and lifestyle accordingly.

Here’s how we support the body during this transition:

🔥 Cupping Therapy

Cupping is excellent for clearing stagnation, relieving muscle tension, and boosting circulation. It’s particularly useful for shoulder and back pain, chronic fatigue, and lung support during allergy or humidity season.

🍃 Gua Sha

This technique uses a smooth-edged tool to gently scrape the skin, helping to release heat, reduce inflammation, and enhance digestion. We often use it for IBS, stress-induced headaches, and tension that builds during high-stress seasons.

🥒 Cooling Foods

Summer calls for a lighter diet—think cucumbers, watermelon, bitter greens, and fresh mint. But here’s the catch: don’t dive into cold foods too early in the season. Transition with the flow of the seasonal solar terms:

  • Beginning of Summer (立夏) – May 5–7
  • Lesser Fullness (小满) – May 21–23
  • Grain in Ear (芒种) – June 5–7
  • Summer Solstice (夏至) – June 21–23
  • Lesser Heat (小暑) – July 7–9
  • Greater Heat (大暑) – July 22–24

Late July is the peak of summer heat, and that’s the best time to lean more into cooling foods and raw options. Prior to that, gently adjust your diet with lightly cooked seasonal veggies and broths that support digestion.

💧 Honoring Kidney Health & Balance

As I continue to juggle motherhood, teaching, and clinic life, I’m reminded of the importance of protecting Kidney energy in TCM. The Kidneys are the root of our vitality, and overwork or chronic stress can lead to fatigue, burnout, or deeper imbalances.

That’s why our expansion isn’t about scaling back—it’s about sustainable growth. Amy’s presence helps ensure we care for more of you, without depleting the energy that keeps this clinic rooted in integrity and wellness.

💬 Ready to Book?

Evening hours begin soon, and our calendar is open through July. With cupping, gua sha, and summer-focused treatments available, this is the perfect time to prioritize your health.

Stay tuned for details on our Summer Open House, where we’ll celebrate Amy's arrival and gather in community again. Until then, take care of your heart, move with the season, and treat your body with kindness.

With gratitude,
JTOLM
